Rivers State Governor, Rt.
Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, said President Goodluck Jonathan is not prepared to
ensure free, fair elections next month.
The governor said this
in reaction to the deployment of soldiers to take over the Adokiye Amiesiemaka
stadium following the insistence of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to host
its presidential rally in the stadium.
Amaechi said it was unfortunate
that the president was preaching one thing and doing another.
He said if the
president was true to having free and fair election that he needed not use the
military to forcefully takeover state owned property.
He explained that the
Rivers State Government provided the Liberation stadium for the PDP to host its
political rally because work was ongoing at the Adokiye Amiesiemake Stadium and
wondered why the PDP led government of President Goodluck Jonathan would insist
on using the stadium that was yet to be completed.
