The People Democratic
Party (PDP) in Rivers State has accused Governor Chibuike Amaechi as being
behind the ongoing strike in the judiciary.
The party alleged that
the governor has vowed to support the strike so as to eliminate any move of
impeachment that may ensue the moment the strike is called off.
The PDP further alleged
the secret distribution of laptops to judiciary workers union. They alleged
that the governor has distributed a total of 250 laptops to members of the Nigerian
Bar Association (NBA) at Bori, Ahoada, Ishiokpo and Degeme branches.
The PDP in a statement
by the Media Aide to its Chairman, Jerry Needam, said the governor also
promised to release additional 1000 laptops to members of the Port Harcourt
branch of the NBA.
However, the PDP
advised the lawyers not to reject the laptops, but to collect and sell them off
and use the proceeds judiciously having been subjected to hardship as a result
of the prolonged strike by the judiciary workers.
