Danagogo Arrests Defaulting Taxi Driver, Warns Against Lawlessness

Rivers State Commissioner for Urban Development and Physical Planning, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, called for the arrest of a Taxi driver (name not disclosed), along Mgbuosimini Agip on Thursday, 7th February 2013, as a result of what he described as misconduct and disregard for law and order by taxi the driver.
Dr. Danagogo said that the Ministry’s task force team on Developmental Control have been severely brutalised by these taxi drivers conveying people at the aforementioned axis every time they go to implement the master plan of the State.

He said that it was a warning for any person who would go against law and order in the state, urging them to be civil and not take laws into their hands as Law breakers will be persecuted.
He also emphasised the Ministry’s zero tolerance Policy for street trading and illegal structures, while enjoining the residents of the State to adhere strictly to the policy.

Speaking concerning the action, the Director of the Developmental Control, Mr. Mina Aprioku said that the staff, Mr. Dimabo Briggs, who was beaten by the taxi driver was seriously hospitalised.
Speaking to the Taxi drivers along Mgbuosimini Agip, many of them declined commenting and one who spoke on the grounds of anonymity sad that the staff of the Developmental Control were the ones in the habit of mistreating them all the while.

He said that the act by the arrested taxi driver was as a result of being pushed to his limits by Mr. Briggs.
Meanwhile, the taxi driver has been charged to court.
