of Rivers State witnessed a black Friday last week following the electrocution of a middle aged man, simply identified as Moses, at about 9.52am.
According to an eye

of one of the top ranking hotels in town, Royal Fortress Hotel, Omoku, met his
untimely death when he attempted to pluck an avocado pear with an iron rod.
The source said that the
iron rod missed the avocado and connected with the high tension cable near the
tree that ended up electrocuting him instantly.
The sad event was said
to have happened behind the hotel near a pipeline, and was said to have attracted
many sympathisers including motorists and motorcycle riders.
On sighting the hanging
body on the tree, the people could not hold back their tears as they wailed and
sobbed uncontrollably.
We also gathered that
the ugly incident threw residents of
Omoku community into total darkness until 6.54pm when a combined team of
policemen and officials of the Power Holding Company came and brought down the
electrocuted body.
Meanwhile, the corpse
had been deposited in the mortuary awaiting for the owners to claim ownership.
