As the controversy over zoning governorship
position in Rivers State continues, a PDP chieftain in Rivers State, Emma
Anyanwu, has supported the PDP in Rivers State on no zoning formula in 2015
election.
Emma Anyanwu in a chat said the rotation policy as
prescribed by Governor Amaechi was intended to exclude Rivers people in
choosing a governorship candidate of their choice in 2015.
“It’s a rotation that he (Amaechi) wants to use to
exclude people and nobody has exclusive right in this state to bring out a
candidate. Those who want to run as governor of this state should present
themselves to Rivers people. If the quality in you, the character in you is
that that can govern the state we’ll give it to you it to you to govern. There
is no place, no single place in Rivers state that one person will sit down to
zone PDP governorship election anywhere. What happens in that line is that when
once a governor emerges, then a deputy governor comes from an angle.”
Emma Anyanwu further accused Governor Rotimi Amaechi
of insincerity in his call for a zoning of the governorship slot.
“I am from the same senatorial zone with him, has he
asked himself the moral question why Etchie has not presented a senator since
the inception of Rivers state. The zone is owned by 3 ethnic groups, Etchie,
Ikwerre and Okirika. Okirika has gone several times, Ikwerre has gone several
times, he has sat down there, he has refused to allow Etchie people to go for
senate to represent the zone, yet he came out to tell Rivers people he is
working on rotation. If he wants to apply the word of rotation he should start
from his senatorial zone."
Prince Emma Anyanwu further said governor Amaechi is
delusional on the level of the support he has amongst ordinary people.
“Rivers people have really been deceived when he
brings out commissioners to talk on his behalf. We believe that he should
derive his support from the people not those that are employed by him. If he
Amaechi wants to know what level of support he has in this state, I challenge
him to dissolve his EXCO and keep it out for one month and see where he if will
get anybody that will walk into that government house for anything.”
