Senate Slams Ngozi Okonji Iweala Over Budget Amendment

The Senate on Tuesday, 2nd June took a swipe at the finance minister, Dr. Ngozi Okonji Iweala, quoted to have accused the National Assembly of foot dragging on the Amendment bill of the 2013 budget earlier forwarded to it by President Goodluck Jonathan.

They further said that she said that the nation’s economy risk total collapse should the National Assembly fail to pass the amendment bill 2013 budget.
In his reaction, the senate spokesperson, Senator Iyinaya Abaribe, at a news conference in Abuja said senate takes exception to such inflammatory comment which he said was capable of giving Nigerians wrong impressions that the National and the Executive are on collision course.

Abaribe further explained that the amendment bill in question is too bulky and it was like the entire 2013 budget.
He also said the senate will not consider the bill until it comes back from its annual vacation.
