The Rivers State
Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, said three people have been arrested in
connection with the killing in Obirikam, in Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government
Area of the state.
He said this at town
hall meeting in Port Harcourt on Thursday.
The governor also said
the divisional police officer in the area has been charged.
Amaechi confirmed that
those arrested have been giving useful information on the killings in Obirikam.
Meanwhile, the governor
had urged residents in the state to come out and vote in tomorrow’s election while
assuring that security would be adequately provided for in all the polling
units.
The governor also
commended the efforts of the state security task force for the arrest of five
persons with 3 AK 47 rifles and assorted ammunition at the Mile 4 Wimpey Area
in Port Harcourt.
Report said that those
arrested were allegedly hired by some top politicians to create violence on Saturday’s
election.
Governor Amaechi
advised voters and Rivers people to remain calm and peaceful and join security
agencies in working for security of the state.
He assured that there
would be peaceful and violent-free election.
