Rivers PDP Accuses Amaechi, APC of Setting Aside N4.5Bn to Bribe Election Tribunal, Conduct LG Election

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has alleged that Rivers State Government and the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state have set aside N2 billion to bribe judges of the election petition tribunal  sitting in Abuja to nullify the April 11 governorship election in the state.

The media and publicity secretary of the PDP campaign organisation in Rivers State, Emma Okah also alleged that the Rivers State Government has approved N2.5 billion to conduct the proposed local government election. 

The PDP said Governor Chibuike Amaechi allegedly directed his financial officers to effect the deal in a meeting it had with them at the Rivers State Government House in Asokoro, Abuja.

The party further alleged that the entire N4.5 billion would be paid to the account of the state government as a conduit to cover the money he amassed for the planned inducement of the tribunal.

The PDP further noted that it was wrong for Governor Amaechi to bribe the tribunal and organise local government election at the end of his tenure when pensioners in the state were crying over unpaid arrears, civil servants are being owed salaries as well as incomplete projects littering the state.

In a swift reaction, the Rivers APC described as a blatant lie the allegation by the PDP that it has set aside N2 billion to bribe judges of the election petition tribunal sitting in Abuja to nullify the April 11 governorship election and other elections in the state.

The publicity secretary of the APC, Chris Fynebone, said the PDP was jittery over what he described as quick and devastating defeat awaiting them at the various election tribunals.

Fynebone said: “the accusation is hob washed typical of a morally bankrupted Rivers PDP. The truth is that after brazenly terrorising Rivers people of their mandate on March 28^th and April 11^th 2015, the PDP in Rivers State has found itself in a moral and physical bind. Like the proverbial liar who must tell more lies to cover its acts, and now they have resorted to blatant lies and blackmails against the APC and its leader Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi.

“The PDP has resorted to this pedestrian-below-the –belt and dirty tactics in view of the quick and devastating defeat awaiting them at the various election tribunals,” he added.

Fynebone also alleged that the PDP was conniving with INEC to altar the election materials used in conduct of the various elections in the state.

He also alleged that the PDP was colliding with the state director of National Youth Service Corp (NYSC) to use corpers to swear affidavit that elections took place in Rivers State.

“The APC will like to remind the PDP, INEC and their collaborators that there can never be a perfect crime. The PDP have been doing a number of things. As i speak they are colliding with INEC personnel to doctor election materials. They are also colliding with the state NYSC director to induce corpers to lie and obtain affidavit to the effect that elections took place in Rivers State. Even efforts at doctoring documents, procuring fake affidavits for corpers and bare face lies and blackmail will fail woefully as good will always prevail over evil. For most of them long jail terms await them,” Fynebone stressed.
