The Ijaw Youth Council
(IYC) has distanced itself from threats by one of Niger Delta agitator, Asari
Dokub, to return to the creeks to protest the defeat of President Goodluck
Jonathan in the March 28 elections.
The President of IYC,
Udengs Eradiri, made the clarification in Abuja in a communiqué issued at the
end of the meeting of the Ijaw Youth Council.
He said IYC would cooperate
with and monitor the incoming administration of Major Gen. Muhammadu Buhari and
take necessary steps.
He also said ex militants who decide to go
back to creek do not have the support of IYC, and that the council is presently
interested in peace.
