The Rivers State
governor-elect, Barr Nyesom Wike said he never contemplated of moving from the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Wike said this in a
statement issued by his Media Aide, Simeon Nwakando.
The governor-elect said
he was committed to the PDP and has not entered into any negotiation with APC
with the aim of defecting to the APC.
Wike also said
political career is built on truth, development and service to the people as
well as commitment to the development of Rivers State which he said is his
focus.
He said he received the
mandate of Rivers people to recall the stolen mandate from the APC and has no
desire whatsoever to join the APC.
Meanwhile the PDP in
the state has dismissed the allegation by the APC that the governor-elect
planned to defect to the APC so as to protect the mandate at the poll.
The PDP chairman, Felix
Obuah in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media, Jerry Needam described
the claims by the APC as baseless, malicious and a mere wish.
